Planned effectively, goals give you a purpose and a target to work towards, helping you realise the life you truly want to lead. At the start of a new year, we often set resolutions on the spur of the moment with insufficient thought about what it is we want to achieve or how we will go about doing so.

Here are some great tips to help you set the realistic goals you truly want to achieve and motivate you to make them a reality.

Set clear goals with precise objectives, which will add value to your life and your happiness.

Break your goals down into manageable tasks – it is far easier to tackle one step at a time than an entire goal all at once.

Create a plan of action that will help you to achieve each task and objective, and will motivate you to attain your overall goal.

Set goals that relate to improving each aspect of your life, such as:

Family relationships

Home environment

Work options

Financial objectives

Wellbeing and mindset

Health and fitness goals

Self-care, personal development and growth

Commit to your goal and acknowledge the benefits it will bring to your life.

Create a to-do list so you can work on something that takes you towards the achievement of your goal each day.

Be positive and believe in your ability to achieve your deepest desires and ambitions.

Visualise how you will feel once you have reached your goal, use this to inspire you to keep taking action towards achievement and success.

Avoid becoming overwhelmed by your goal. Remember the goal will improve your life, therefore it should not add any sense of anxiety.

Ask others to help you to achieve your goal through motivation, encouragement and enthusiasm.

Enjoy the success when you achieve your goals. Realise how great you are and celebrate your new happiness!

Should you like to learn more about effective goal setting, we have produced the motivational How To Create Achievable Goals And Recapture Your Inner Sparkle! e-book to help bring confidence, balance and joy into your life!
Calling ALL mums who want to enjoy an easier, more fulfilling and happier life in 2012!

Calling ALL mums who want to enjoy an easier, more fulfilling and happier life in 2012!

Could your life be better, happier and more enjoyable? Take our quick quiz and find out!

Q: How many of the following ten statements apply to how you feel about you and your life?

1. Since becoming a mum I’ve completely lost my identity and sparkle.
2. I’m constantly exhausted and on the go, there just aren’t enough hours in the day.
3. I secretly worry what others think of me.
4. I’m a master at comparing myself unfavourably with others.
5. Following childbirth, my get-up-and-go got up and went!
6. I long to have the energy to do things that make me happy for a change, without the guilt!
7. I’m feeling a little lost and directionless right now!
8. I long to be brimming with confidence so I can embrace opportunities.
9. I constantly put everyone else’s needs before my own.
10. I didn’t think being a mum would be this challenging!

How many statements did you relate to? Even if you ticked all ten, don’t worry: you’re really not alone in feeling this way. Being a mum is hard work! Yet, no matter how worn out and weary you feel it is possible to reclaim your oomph and bring some fun and direction back into your life!

Imagine instead being a mum with:

Indestructible self-belief

Super confidence for every situation

An ideal work/life balance that works for you and your family

More time to spend nurturing and enjoying your family

Quality time just for you

A calm and organised home environment

A guilt-free life

Think how great it would be to have one of the UK’s leading coaches for mums show you exactly how you can achieve all this to create a happier, easier and more fulfilled life!

Well, now you can and for much less investment than you might think! Tracey Wall, founder and director of Empowering Mums, has created and developed CLASSIE Mums Club for mums who want to achieve an easier, more fulfilling and happier life without having to pay a fortune for it!

Life as a busy mum can often feel mundane, monotonous, overwhelming and exhausting. Wouldn’t it be great if you could do something for you: something that will inspire, motivate and fulfil you? Well, you can! Life is what you make it and here are some great ways to help you achieve your deepest desires and lifelong goals.

Believe In Yourself
You must value yourself, believe you are worthy of your goal and have the confidence to make it a reality. Ensure the goal will improve the quality of your life and will bring fulfilment to your entire being. Visualise what the realisation of this goal will mean to your life and hold on to this thought – use it to motivate your success.

Remain Positive
In order to achieve your greatest goals, you must have a positive and optimistic outlook. If you doubt yourself, you will fail. Negative thoughts will work against you and continually throw obstacles and challenges in your way. Realise you can achieve your goals with drive and enthusiasm.

Be Passionate
Allow your passion for your goal – and how the achievement of it will make you feel – fuel your self-belief and determination. Allow your passion to empower you to maintain focus and provide clarity of purpose. Enthusiastically embrace every step that will take you closer to success.

Don’t Limit Your Goals
If you’re unhappy with a number of areas in your life, create a plan of action to improve your situation. Do not settle for second best in any aspect of your life. Set goals that will help you achieve and maintain your happiness.

Celebrate Your Achievements
Throughout the journey to achieving your goals, celebrate every small victory along the way. It is important to realise when you have overcome allowing negative thoughts to rule your decisions: this is a tremendous achievement and should be celebrated. Give yourself the acknowledgement you deserve when great things happen and use this as a way to move forward to attaining your entire goals.

Wow! How do you feel post festivities? We hope you enjoyed a truly magical Christmas Day with your loved ones but what we really want to know is whether you enjoyed some time out to relax and enjoy quality time with your family!

It is more than likely you have spent the last few weeks, or even months, rushing around preparing for this special time of year. Generally, life can be extremely hectic but Christmas time causes an increase in activity and stress! What better time than a bank holiday to relax, unwind and reflect on how much you have achieved this year?

We hope this Christmas time has been filled with laughter, joy and happiness. However, if you feel uneasy, jittery or a general lethargy about the whole event, you may have burnt yourself out and become exhausted. If this rings any alarm bells, ensure you take it easy for the rest of the holidays and take time to recharge and re-energise yourself; you certainly deserve it!

Over the next week, as the New Year approaches, it is likely you will be reflecting on the things you would most like to achieve in life. This is a great time to consider what it is you want accomplish with your life in 2012 and beyond. Why not take some time out and reflect on what really matters to you. This, along with a good rest, will invigorate you so you can look forward to the year ahead with positive anticipation: you will be taking control of your own future.

If you feel you could do with some support to improve your fulfilment with life, its balance, wellbeing and happiness, please do not hesitate to contact Empowering Mums. We offer a free initial telephone conversation during which you can ask questions to clarify how a tailored coaching programme will help you achieve lifelong satisfaction, a better relationship with your partner and children, improved time management and greater self-confidence and self-worth. You have nothing to lose but everything to gain!

The combination of cold winter weather, rushing around preparing for the Christmas festivities and fulfilling the needs of those around you can affect your health and wellbeing. Here are some great ideas that will help you to wind down so you can thoroughly enjoy the Christmas holidays.

Simply Relax
Find some quiet time, perhaps when the children are in bed, to simply wind down and relax. Dim the lights, light some candles, play some soothing music and chill out for a while. Empty your mind of your to-do list and worries, and just take some time out to recharge your batteries. If you find relaxing difficult, enjoying a nice warm bath with a good book will help you to escape your thoughts.

Keep Travel To A Minimum
With the rising cost of fuel, travelling from house to house visiting relatives is becoming less economically practicable. If you can avoid it, stay at home so you can remove some of your stress caused by this additional planning. If you and your loved ones have the technology, Skype each other so you can pass on messages of love and goodwill. Of course if you can’t avoid travelling at this time of year, involve everyone in the packing process so the total responsibility doesn’t fall on you.

Stay Active
Ensure you stay healthy by enjoying some physical activity at least three times a week. A walk with a friend, a visit to the gym or a swim with the kids are all things you can still enjoy at this time of year.

Say No
Don’t over commit this Christmas. If you are getting pulled in all directions, stop taking on more tasks. It’s likely everyone – your immediate and extended family, friends, work and the school PTA – all want your help in some way. Prioritise the things you want to do and say no to the rest.

Lower Your Expectations
Stop trying to make this ‘the best Christmas ever’! What will make it special, especially for your children, is if you and your partner are relaxed. Remember ‘perfection’ is an idealised concept that cannot be achieved. Stop trying and start enjoying!

Congratulate yourself for everything you have accomplished in 2011! If you’re unsure why you deserve such praise, read on!

As a busy mum (and let’s face it you are!) you should be able to acknowledge and feel proud about everything you do for your family. Whether you’re expecting a baby, raising a young family or you are now a bit of a pro with a brood of teenagers, you will undoubtedly be giving your very best to your children and it is for this you should feel immensely proud. Recognise how much you do to enrich the lives of your family.

If you take some time to reflect on the last week, you would be astounded by everything you achieved without realising it!

Quality time spent having fun with your children
Nurturing your child’s development and confidence
The school run
Ferrying your kids to extracurricular activities
Shopping for healthy dinner options
Filling your family with 5-a-day, every day
Catching up with your extended family
Attending to work commitments
Managing a household budget
Keeping on top of housework
Taming the ironing pile

And the list goes on! And of course, there are the timely and untimely jobs to attend to, such as collating home insurance quotes or booking the car into the garage to repair its failing clutch! You may have had to collect your child from school in the middle of the day because of a tummy bug – and then spent the rest of the day nursing a sick child. You may have had to deal with an issue at nursery or school involving your child. You may have had to drop everything to visit an elderly relative who needed your help and support.

Life can seem like one long journey of never-ending jobs and responsibilities! Yet can you see how resilient you are? You are such an amazing woman; juggling everything you are faced with on a daily, often relentless basis. What an inspiration!

After considering everything you do for your family, do you believe you can justify some ‘me time’? Time to chill out, recharge and gain focus. Don’t you agree this would work wonders to help you reconnect with the real you?

Self-care is vital: it energises you, increases your happiness and kick-starts your lust for life. As importantly it will make you more amenable, which will have a massive impact on the relationship you have with your family!

So, celebrate how fantastic you really are and allow yourself the opportunity to enjoy some time out to recapture your inner sparkle! You deserve it!
